Online Casino Sponsors Biblical Literacy Quiz for Homeschool Families

In the spring of 2024, an unexpected partnership between a digital entertainment company and a homeschool curriculum publisher produced one of the more unusual educational initiatives of the year. Dudespin, an online casino platform operating at https://dudespins-au.com/, contributed funding through its community outreach program to support a biblical literacy quiz series developed in collaboration with Calvary Curriculum, a publisher based in Tennessee that has served homeschooling families across the United States since 2003. The initiative ran from March through June 2024 and engaged over 1,400 registered homeschool households across 34 states.

The project, formally titled the Scripture Comprehension Challenge Series, consisted of eight weekly quiz modules covering both Old and New Testament content. Each module was designed for students between the ages of 10 and 16 and included multiple-choice questions, short-answer prompts, and a reflection section that parents could use as a discussion guide. Calvary Curriculum's editorial team of four writers developed all content in-house, ensuring alignment with the publisher's established theological framework and age-appropriate language standards.

According to project coordinator Linda Marsh, the idea emerged from a survey Calvary Curriculum conducted in late 2023, in which 62 percent of responding families said they wanted more structured, gamified assessment tools to supplement their existing lesson plans. "We had the content expertise and the audience," Marsh said in an interview in April 2024. "What we needed was a reliable funding source to build the digital infrastructure, handle the quiz platform licensing, and mail printed materials to families without internet access."

How the Funding Was Structured

Dudespin's community fund contributed $47,000 to the project across two disbursements — an initial grant of $31,000 in February 2024 to cover platform development and printing, and a second allocation of $16,000 in May to extend the program by two additional quiz modules after early enrollment exceeded projections. The funds were administered through an independent nonprofit intermediary, the Family Education Resource Network, headquartered in Nashville, which handled financial oversight and reporting.

A representative from Dudespin, speaking on behalf of the company's community outreach division, noted that the online casino had been looking for opportunities to invest in structured educational programming outside of its primary market demographic. "Our platform is built for adults, and gambling is an activity we take seriously in terms of responsible engagement," the representative said. "But our outreach fund is explicitly designed to support projects that serve communities we don't directly reach through our product. Educational initiatives for homeschool families fit that criterion clearly."

This distinction was important to Calvary Curriculum's leadership as well. The publisher was transparent with its subscriber base about the funding source, publishing a disclosure notice in its March 2024 newsletter. The response, according to Marsh, was largely neutral. "A small number of families wrote in with questions, and we answered each one directly," she said. "Most parents cared more about whether the quiz content was sound, which it was."

Participation and Results

By the end of the program in late June 2024, 1,412 households had completed at least four of the eight quiz modules. Of those, 689 completed all eight. Participants were distributed across 34 states, with the highest concentrations in Texas, Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina. Families received printed certificates of completion, and 42 students who scored above 90 percent across all modules received a small reference library package — a set of four annotated biblical concordances donated by a separate educational publisher.

Feedback collected through an end-of-program survey indicated that 78 percent of participating parents found the quiz format more effective for retention than standard reading assignments alone. Students reported in open-ended responses that the structured weekly rhythm helped them stay consistent. Several parents noted that the reflection sections were particularly useful for guiding dinner-table conversations about scripture passages they had not previously discussed as a family.

Calvary Curriculum has indicated that a second iteration of the Scripture Comprehension Challenge Series is under consideration for the 2025 academic year, pending budget confirmation. Whether Dudespin's community fund will again be involved has not been announced, though both parties described the 2024 collaboration as professionally productive. The model — where an online casino's outreach budget supports a carefully vetted, non-gambling-related educational project — remains uncommon, but the 2024 series demonstrated that such arrangements can be executed with transparency and measurable outcomes.
